1st Annual Pumpkin Patch Party (2017)

Hello Montrose & Welcome to My First Blog Post.


Today is the second and last day of our FIRST ANNUAL PUMPKIN PATCH PARTY. We have had such a great turn out and so many NEW fun faces coming in to the shop. So, what is our first pumpkin patch all about?


Well, the store has only been in operation since they first opened the doors on June 27, 2017. My mom and I created Blonde Biscotti with the intent to become part of the Montrose community. We love everything about this sweet corner of Houston so we decided that every year (in honor of my brother's favorite holiday) to create a party that everyone could look forward to.


Every weekend before Halloween Day, we stack several large crates to create a pumpkin patch wall where you can take selfies with your friends and family while enjoying great coffee and biscotti. The BEST part about it???? At the end of the weekend on Sunday, you can take home a sweet little pumpkin to enjoy.


With so many pumpkins to enjoy, we thought we would share some fun ideas to do with them:

1. Decorate (carve, paint, etc) your pumpkin with your friends or family.


2. Bring them with you to a friend's party to enjoy as a housewarming/party-warming gift.


3. Roast the Seeds and enjoy them. Never roasted pumpkin seeds before? - Check out one of our recommended recipes below:





               Pumpkin seeds
               Olive Oil
               Favorite Seasonings: Sea Salt or Cinnamon & Sugar, Cayenne Pepper


  1. CLEAN THE SEEDS. This task can be slightly daunting, but you want to make sure that there are no signs of pumpkin pulp when you go to roast them. Start by filling a bowl with water. Place the seeds in the water bowl and begin using your fingers to pull apart. The clean seeds will float to the top.

  2. BOIL IN SALT WATER. Boiling 1 tsp of salt in a medium sized pot

  3. DRAIN THE SEEDS & DRY. Make sure the seeds are completely dry or the roasting process won’t crisp correctly.

  4. SPRINKLE WITH OLIVE OIL. Place the dried seeds back in a clean, dry bowl. Drizzle approximately 1-1 ½ tsp extra virgin olive oil over the seeds. Massage the oil into the seeds and make sure that each is lightly coated. Sprinkling too much oil will cause issues with roasting. Be light with your initial sprinkle, if you need more, you can always add.

  5. PREPARE ROASTING PAN. Spread evenly across a baking sheet the coated.

  6. ADD SPICES. If desired, sprinkle with your favorite spice blends or just plain sea salt.

  7. ROAST. Preheat oven to 325°F. Roast seeds for 10 minutes.
